The Farmers Pitso Awards enter a new chapter following the conclusion of a three-year agreement (2026–2028) that places the ownership and management of the awards under Newsday Media, with Seahlolo Newspaper assuming responsibility for organising and growing the platform.

This development follows consultations between the founding team of the Farmers Pitso Awards and Seahlolo Newspaper, during which the founders resolved to suspend the 2026 edition of the awards. Recognising the importance of the Farmers Pitso Awards as a national platform that celebrates agricultural excellence, Seahlolo stepped forward to ensure the continuity and future growth of the initiative.

As an agricultural newspaper with a longstanding commitment to documenting, promoting, and amplifying the voices of farmers across Lesotho, Seahlolo’s stewardship of the Farmers Pitso Awards builds naturally on its work within the sector. The move aligns the awards with a platform that engages daily with farmers, agribusinesses, policymakers, and stakeholders in agriculture.

Under the agreement, the Farmers Pitso Awards will continue to exist as a brand under the Farmers Pitso Foundation, while Newsday Media, through Seahlolo Newspaper, will take full responsibility for organising, managing, and expanding the awards. The founders will remain involved in an advisory role, providing historical insight and strategic guidance as the awards grow.

Seahlolo Newspaper views this transition as an opportunity to continue to strengthen the Farmers Pitso Awards as a credible, farmer-focused national platform that recognises excellence, innovation, and contribution to the agricultural sector. Through this new phase, the awards are expected to reach wider audiences, attract greater participation, and reinforce agriculture’s role in Lesotho’s development.

Together with farmers, stakeholders, sponsors, and the public, Seahlolo looks forward to advancing the Farmers Pitso Awards as a platform that celebrates achievement and supports the future of agriculture in Lesotho.
